[South Florida DX Association] Important! 440 threat - Need your help ASAP

Hi Jeff,

If 430 - 440 MHz goes, it will impact not only terrestrial amateur
operations but also - and this is the kicker - the internationally-allocated
Amateur Satellite Service band on 435 - 438 MHz. Before auctioning off this
sub-band, the US ITU delegation would need to clear this change with the
ITU, or else the US would be in breach of the international radio treaties.

It is evident to me that the congressional staffers who wrote up HR 607 did
not do their homework very well. I would recommend that interested parties
who write to their congressional representative should point out this area
of potential conflict with an internationally-protected frequency
allocation.

Cheers for now, 73,
Adam VA7OJ/AB4OJ

A few days ago I wrote about HR 607 and the threat it seemed to pose to
our 440 band. Well, the threat is very real.http://www.arrl.org/hr-607 I
need every PIO, club and ham we can get to write to their congressional
representative in opposition to the bill as it is written. Because of their
security measures, it will NOT do any good to mail them direct. You can send
an email, but PLEASE fill in the sections of the attached letter for your
own representative and then send it to Chwat & Co who will HAND DELIVER it
– making sure your letter gets noticed!
http://www.arrl.org/sample-letters After filling in the blanks, send to:
                                 John Chwat
