Subject: RF & computer speakers

Many of my fellow hams might have run into this. When you go on the air, you have to turn off your computer speakers. If your XYL, or other family member happens to be on their computer's, you will hear that blood curdling scream to stop what your doing with you radio. Sound familiar? A few days ago, the speakers on my XYL's computer stopped working. So off to Wall-Mart I went. What I found should be of interest to every ham out there. I found an inexpensive ($19.00) set of HP speakers, that are powered by a USB port in the computer. That's right, no wall wart, or AC plug. I brought two pairs. One for the XYL's computer, and one for my computer, which is in the shack. The HP P/N is GL313AA. Look up the part number on the internet to see the specs. Now I can do SSB or the digital modes, without having to hear any complaints from my XYL.
