I don't think you have to pay anything, I know I do not and my logging
program DXLAB connects to QRZ.com with no problem. In order to read email
addresses of the subject station you must be signed in to QRZ.COM. Sign in once and
you stay logged in and all works well.
Take a look at DXLab suite of applications - they work well.

=================================================:
I know that a lot of the club members use Logger32 for logging and other
uses. I just upgraded mine from version 3.15 and found out that versions
3.16 and on now do not support Internet lookups from QRZ.com without being a
paid subscriber.
I did a little searching on the web and found a "fix" around that without
becoming a paid subscriber to QRZ.com. N2AMG has listed on his website a way
he developed to get around this.
For those who may be interested in this here is the link to his webpage that
lists the fix. It is the second or third listed fix on the page.
