If you have not already done so please write your US Representative and ask
him/her to co-sponsor HR 2160 - the Amateur Radio Communications
Enhancement
Act of 2009. This bill could assist us in getting the problems with HOAs
and
CC&Rs reduced.

REPORTS:
Station Activity and Net Reports from Miss Phil, KA4FZI

I noticed that our numbers are down a little this month. That drop is
obviously due in part to missing reports of NCSs to the net manager. QFN
appears to have missed 7 sessions and I know that is not the case. The NCSs
have likely neglected to send their net reports to AD4DO, who always has his
numbers in good order, but can't use data that is missing. That applies to
other nets as well. NCS stations: Please be sure you send the net reports...
best directly on the air with an email/digital backup copy. We want to let
ARRL know that NTS is alive and well here in Florida and deserves to be
respected as such. All of our managers are doing an outstanding job of
getting their monthly reports to me on time. Thanks to all for your
cooperation! KA4FZI

Comments:
Several counties reported having Field Day Activities, with Miami-Dade and
Martin Counties reported having exceptional Field Days.

K4DLF, K4FLC, K8KB, W4STB, W4ZE, WA4ASJ, WA4AW and WA4GUK attended a state
wide ARES meeting held at State EOC in Tallahassee, June 20th. Considering
our section had the farthest to travel we had a really good representation.
The meeting was interesting and informative.

I hope to see many of you at the Fort Pierce Hamfest on August 8th. There
will be an ARRL/ARES forum at 9:30. At 10:45 the FECDX club will offer a
forum with the topic "You made the contact, now get it confirmed" to be
presented by member Norm Alexander, W4QN. The club will hold a short
business meeting following the forum. DXCC Award Card Checking will be
available - for instructions on completing DXCC award applications go to:
www.freewebs.com/fecdx.

=======
On July 15 several ARES members participated in the Hurricane John Paul
drill,
organized by Catholic Charities. The primary purpose of the Hurricane John
Paul Drill was to establish a statewide communications network using the
internet and four SatCom Hubs. Amateur Radio was involved using Winlink2K,
D-Star and other digital modes to send e-mail. These Hubs do not have ham
radio equipment.

SETs or Simulated Emergency Tests are conducted in various ways and often
have
a specific performance objective. When helping your EC design the next SET
for your ARES group consider what function you want to evaluate, time and
funding available, and other agencies to work with. Remember, we are
communicators and the object is to explore various means of communications.

We have a new resource on sflarrl.org web site. There is a handy antenna
length calculator. Enter your desired input frequency and units, then
select
output antenna units followed by the "Calculate" button. The Full, Half and
Quarter wave antenna size will be displayed.

Till next time, stay safe and stay on the air.

73,
Sherri, W4STB
