SFDXA MEETING ANNOUNCEMENT

 

The next meeting of the South Florida DX Association will be held on
Wednesday evening, March 4, at the Florida Medical Center (FMC) Auditorium
in Lauderdale Lakes (West Oakland Park Blvd. adjacent to the Florida
Turnpike). Members and guests will gather at 6:00pm for our bi-monthly
fixed-price dinner ($7 per person). As usual, our meeting and program will
begin at 7:33pm.

 

Our featured program this month will be "Working Desecheo Island - K5D -
from Indoors" by QST award winning author Kai Siwiak (KE4PT). Kai will show
how even an inexperienced DXer with a modest station in South Florida can
successfully work one of the rarest countries in the world using his
"secret" (until now) operating techniques. Kai's initial presentation to
SFDXA members over one year ago was so well received that we invited him
back for an encore presentation. Don't miss what promises to be a highly
informative program!   

 

As part of our March meeting, we will be holding a Town Hall forum. The
purpose of the forum will be to outline some of the serious challenges
facing the SFDXA in the year ahead and to solicit ideas from members about
ways to meet these challenges. Our foremost challenge is to ensure
continuity of organizational leadership in order to maintain the
organization as we know it today including all of the benefits that our
members currently enjoy. This time-limited forum will be devoted strictly to
"brainstorming". All ideas presented at the March meeting will be documented
and then thoroughly reviewed by Board members in coming weeks. We will NOT
debate the merits of each idea during the March meeting as those ideas are
presented. Instead, in the interest of brevity, we will simply gather your
ideas on Wednesday evening so that they can be thoroughly explored later
and, if warranted, integrated into the Board's overall planning activities.


 

This is just a reminder for those of you who have not as yet paid your 2009
SFDXA membership fee that it is now overdue. Please submit your check
(payable to the South Florida DX Association) to our Treasurer (Bruce -
W4OV) at his Callbook address or bring it with you to our March meeting. In
addition, voluntary contributions (in any amount) to a separate SFDXA fund
to support worthy DXpeditions are also being sought.
