The Following is a little information about our first speaker at the DX Forum tomorrow at 10:30 AM...

K1TO represents the competitor in each
of us, with the significant addition of humanity and friendship
to the contest community. Perhaps one of the most modest contesters
there is, Dan likes to say that "I let my scores do the talking" ....... and
that
they do quite well!

Originally from Connecticut, Dan as WA1QNF was active as a teenager in
single
operator and also in multi-single partnership with several
other local teenagers. A modest station at his parents' home was enough
for people to start noticing Dan's contesting savvy.

As a student he worked during school breaks at the ARRL in
Newington,
including assisting in the contest department where he earned the nickname
"Samurai Dan" for his skill at dupe checking logs (this was before K1EA made
sure we all
had computers in our shacks!).

Dan holds many records in both Domestic and DX contests - including
being the first single operator all band c.w. entry to work all 40 zones in
CQWW. He has contested from his home station, operated from the
Caribbean, and been a guest op. at many multi-single and multi-multi
operations,
including W1ZM, K1KI and HC8N. While he was in the
Northeast he was member and officer in Murphy's Marauders and the YCCC.

After moving to Florida, Dan started assembling a station and began
making the Florida record's book his own. A first place finish in the
Sweepstakes CW, from outside the Caribbean, is another notch in Dan's belt.

His partnership with N5TJ has lead to that team winning the World Radio
Team Championship, WRTC, in the last three runnings - a rare contesting
"threepeat".

The team element of WRTC is very fitting for Dan, current President of
the
Florida Contest Group. On Field Day Dan is an Elmer to newcomers, teaching
them
to be efficient operators in sending their exchanges and encouraging them
not to be
afraid to call CQ. Dan never is too busy to lend a hand to anyone who has a
question
or needs assistance. When a member is putting up a new tower Dan is quick
to assist
be it with calculations for guy wire lengths, or strapping on a climbing belt
to get
the job done.
