There are numerous methods for RDF Radio Direction Finding

I was involved with ARDF Airborne RDF in Vietnam with the AN/ALR-34, 35,
38mini & 38 systems

This is the work we did on the EC-47 a C-47 with a special electronics
platform

We used a different setup on the RC-130BII which was called "the washing
machine" which used a resistance delay line between 2 antennas to DF - the
radome was lowered from the belly of the plane in flight and with luck
raised prior to landing which did not always work and it was finally removed

The RC-135 Rivet Joint also has an ARDF system which is quite extensive

The US Army has an aircraft used in the drug interdiction program and other
areas called GUARDRAIL

The Navy EP-3 is another

Here are links to DF equipment sites

If you wish to research direction finding deeper than this, go to
www.google.com and search on that subject

The next time a Saddam Hussein takes over Kuwait, or North Korea brandishes
a nuclear weapon, will we be ready to respond? In the end, it all comes down
to leadership, and that is what this country is looking for now. --- Ronald
Reagan
