Public safety departments in St. Clair County will have a chance to get the 
latest in communication technology if voters approve a $25 million expansion of 
a new countywide radio system.The radio system would be comprised of 1,200 
digital Motorola 800 MHz radios distributed to more than 50 local fire, police 
and ambulance agencies in the county. The radios, costing between $2,200 to 
$3,400 apiece, could be used in cars, wooded areas and in thick-walled buildings.
