[ScanIndiana] Uniden 996 Firmware Update

I tried tonight to update the firmware for my 996 scanner. After 1 1/2 hours the only thing I got accomplished was my scanner display blinks green and gray.
Of course it is to late to contact customer service so I have no scanner. I have updated firmware on all of my scanners several times before. I have a BC296D, BC796D and a BCD996T. I got a message that said "program error" on my PC and asked if I took the batteries out of the scanner. There is nothing in the manual or anything that talks about batteries. I have had this scanner for well over a year. A new one to me.

Just a word of caution wait to update the firmware [unlike me] so your scanner does not crap out.
