I doubt very seriously that their 800 MHz radios will dual band to VHF,
that's a pretty big split! I would imagine they were being assigned to a
few "Mutual Aid" 800 MHz repeaters, such as the NPSAC, or what ever the
alphabet soup is for them.

Really? Like 155.790 MHz for FWPD north dispatch? Wouldn't that mean all the
cars would have to have both an 800 Mhz radio and a VHF radio in them? Or
are the 800 MHz radios dual band? Before the system went down, I heard
people being advised to switch their radios to a particular "zone" number
and turn off their scanning feature, which would imply that they're able to
use the same radio for the backup system that they use for the primary TRS.

Their backup channels are the old channels they used before they went to
800.
