Greetings, 

There will be a new update for the 996 within two weeks. The update will be 
for these two items: 

1. Control Channel Hang 
2. Backlight Level Change 

We were talking about flaws on the 996 on the _BCD396T at yahoo. com_ 
(mailto:BCD396T at yahoo. com) group. There was one other problem. It is the talkgroup id 
hold problem. An id is put on hold. Then, when it is time to resume 
scanning, the scanner starts from system 1 instead of scanning in the same system 
for its hold time or going to the next system with the arrow showing up or 
down. 

Paul (pmanu44) from Uniden posted about the firmware update. He said about 
#3: "Scan Resume from SQK1 was first reported to us yesterday. We are 
studying, but it will not be in the above referenced update." 

This is good news for us 996 owners who have these problems. This will be 
the first update for this scanner.
