[ScanIndiana] New radio system for Indianapolis/Marion County

All the current model digital scanners are well capable of receiving 9600bps
ASTRO systems. I dont think it's clear at this point (maybe I missed it) if
it will be a True P25 9600 system or a 3600 system operating in all digital
mode. However, the fact that it sounds like even Government services will be
digital and the fact they are touting it as "state of the art" leads me to
believe it's most likely going to be a 9600 system.

If this is the case, the only digital scanners that won't work would be the
785/250 which won't work after rebanding anyway, which will be complete
before this system is scheduled to go live. All others will track and decode
the system just fine, although, there have been some issues with CQPSK
simulcasting if they choose to go that route vs C4FM.

Hope this helps :)

Steve

Subject: [ScanIndiana] New radio system for Indianapolis/Marion County

Hello To All,I have a question about the new system,I understand that the
new radio system will be Motorola ''ASTRO'' and there are no scanners on the
market that will pick up Motorola Astro systems. Will anyone in
Indianapolis/Marion County be able to listen to the new system on a Uniden
796 D, or a Uniden 250D.,Please advise,Thanks Tim DeLong W9NES
