Hello, Mike. According to the information at
http://www.radioreference.com/modules.php?name=RR&ctid=734, it appears that
most of Knox county is on a Motorola trunked system, that your scanner
should receive. There also are 2 towers in Knox county for the state-wide
SAFE-T system. However, the majority of the law enforcement traffic on that
system is digital, and the BCT8 won't decode the digital transmissions. I
also read on the radiorefernce page that there were plans to move some or
all of Knox county's traffic to the SAFE-T system.
You might want to join the Yahoo Group about the SAFE-T system and check out
some other Knox county folks. The SAFE-T group is located at
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/SAFET/.
Have fun.

Subject: [ScanIndiana] BCT8
About six weeks ago we purchased a Uniden BCT8 police scanner.
After reading the user manual several times, I feel that I am correctly
doing everything that I should be doing, and feel comfortable that the
problem is not anything I am doing incorrectly.
But....the problem is that we cannot recieve but very little traffic from
the Vincennes, Indiana police , and the Knox County Sherriff's Dept. systems
I am located about 18 miles SE of Vincennes, in Knox County.
I am thinking that maybe they are using some other type of communication
system that the BCT8 cannot detect....
Would you be able to tell me more about this situation? Any information
would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
mike
