Last year, the FIA officials were using a TETRA system using Riedel
(www.riedel.net) equipment. Each of the top FIA officials carries a
handheld that can be used as either a two-way radio or telephone. The
system's central controller gives the officials the ability to tap into
each of the teams' communications so they can talk to the team managers.

Some of the teams are also using Riedel equipment to sort out their various
radio channels. If I remember right, the Ferrari team is using TETRA.

What you will hear on the "Race Control" channels is the auxiliary staff
(Rescue crews, Pit Marshals, Grid Marshals, etc.) and mostly administrative
stuff. All of the corner station communication is via land-line.
