Emergency dispatch chief replaced
The director of Marion County's police and fire dispatch center is leaving
that agency as it prepares to embark on a major overhaul.
Linn T. Piper, 56, resigned Wednesday as director of the Metropolitan
Emergency Communications Agency, or MECA, according to Barbara Lawrence, the
agency's board chair.
Piper, whose departure takes effect next Friday, had been in charge of the
agency's $35 million upgrade to a digital communications system, which is
supposed to begin this year and take about 12 months to complete.
