WOW I bet their face was red.... Was it in the paper, or just by word of
mouth...How Stupid can they be. I go thru Carmel at times with a caprice
with 3 antennas on the back. Ham license plates tho.wonder if I will get
stopped.

Yes, it was in the (Carmel? Indianapolis?) newspaper over 5 years
ago. I worked in Carmel at the RITRON two-way radio plant there up until 4 years
ago. I had 6 antennas on my car, not counting the dual and multiple-band
capability of some of them. The copy of the newspaper article ("How many
antennas are legal in Carmel?) was so poor (looked like a 17th generation copy) and
posted on the coffee machine where I couldn't miss it that I thought it was a
gag on me. Not so.

It was a dark-tinted (blacked out) unmarked State Police car with
three antennas on it, on duty. When the Carmel officer had the driver roll down
the window of the car he had just stopped, the UNIFORMED ISP Officer inside
wanted to know why he had been stopped. It took 3 days for the Carmel PD to
issue an official reason for the stop: He had "an inordinate number of antennas
on his car." 3. The ISP Officer sued the city of Carmel over the incident and
settled out of court for $250,000. The ISP Officer was non-Caucasian. I
happen to agree with the ISP Officer in this case. Carmel stopped him for their
own reasons, which took them 3 days to come with and release to the Press, and
the antenna issue is all they could come up with? Their non-acceptance of
"non-Carmelites" was never made so clear and tangible as that traffic stop for
no valid reason, and the 3 day delay it took to offer an equally non-valid
"inordinate number of antennas" excuse for justification. You would think in 3
days they would have offered a smarter excuse.

I, too, had and have Ham license plates on my car. I'm considering
changing them back to regular plates so I can win a $250,000 law suit, too! But
I don't work there any more, but I'll drive through tonight on my way to our
CAP meeting.
