One thing I didn't mention before, just plain forgot, is
that more than likely the FCC will hold YOU responsible for
all communications through the repeater.  Because of the
absurdly large number of unlicensed GMRS users who aren't
too choosy about their language and how they use the radio,
you may have to restrict access just to cover your own butt.

This might explain why the other fellow was snotty about his
machine - he may have had some of that kind of trouble.
