It IS possible that 153.665 was tied to 458.6375 as a mobile extender link.
I had 458.6375 in the radio at the same time, but heard nothing, although I
had little time to search. The traffic would have had to have been on the
outskirts of Nashville, if the City police were running radar 'in a 50' mph
zone, and I think I was almost line of site to all three roads coming into
the town limits, so I would have thought I would have heard the 458 freq
also.
I believe Nashville (county seat) and Brown Co. are pretty much inseparable.
So, it is quite possible Nashville might have the freq license, but it may
be in the county cars also. If the cars were outside the city limits, the
traffic heard would have made a lot more sense.
Unfortunately I have no plans to go back to Nashville right away, but rest
assured, I'll give all of the channels another shot when I do. It may be a
couple of years, but I'll probably be back.
I did have traffic on the normal city/county repeater that implied handheld
use that I couldn't hear the input to. The normal output is 154.875, with
a 155.97 input. I was hearing a 'dropout' on the 155.97 input at one
point, implying a mobile extender or something. From the traffic I assumed
I was hearing a portable 'beat' cop in the downtown shopping area. I was
out of town about 2 miles at that point, so too far away to find or verify
the 458 channel. I did not try the 153.665 channel then, as I hadn't heard
anything on it, and didn't expect it to be a PD channel.
Hopefully someone on the reflector knows the secrets of the system(s) in
Nashville and will fill us in.
