[ScanIndiana] Scanner Listners are Thugs

Well I just read the article in question. I would
almost bet that the "fragmented statement" was
meant for the criminals he referred to in the
previous sentence. Or the reporter, as most
reporters do, miss quoted the officer, or he
missed the point of the fragmented statement the
officer made about criminals being thugs. Most
criminals do not use a scanner on the job. Rather
they "stake out" a place for their unlawful deeds
and watch the police and their "habits" in those
areas. If they have a scanner in their dwelling
the criminal breaks no law unless he / she is
stupid enough to take notes about the area they
have targeted. The notes, when found during a
search, then can be introduced as evidence for
the prosecution to show the intent of the
criminal.
Do not believe everything heard on the scanner
from police departments. Some of the stuff we
hear is "mis-information" meant to trick a
subject into thinking they will not get caught.
As for Terra Haute, Indiana getting a "hot new
communications system" the cost of the system,
upgrades, many repeaters on hill tops, and
maintenance will be far more than capturing
anybody listening to a scanner, digital or other
types. Someone will eventually figure how to
legally make a product that will allow the
scanning public to hear THEIR police force in
action. WHY? Because we live in free country and
we the people decide what laws we will live
by.....that is what makes this country great. We
the people not we the police or army. W9FPJ
