To quote Jerry N9LYA:
"Beware the Police Department (Government) that has something to
hide...via
going digital or scrambled... Or both.
I know here in Lawrence county the Police would die for a system that
cannot be monitored... They hate knowing they can be heard by anyone at
any time.. "

I work for an agency in Texas where we will use the Alpha/Numeric
pagers, or digital cell phones when Nextel or other secure services are
not available. Ours is not to hide anything we are doing wrong, we just
need to be able to have the edge on the bad guys for the safety of our
folks. Having worked in Indiana, and Texas, there is a LOT of difference
in our "operations".
As for the general public, they have been a lot of help to us when we
are looking for a missing person, a location that is difficult to find,
or even a "bad guy" and his vehicle. For the most part, I appreciate the
help from those who listen, and help. Crime Stoppers, and scanners have
helped a lot!
Best of luck in your efforts with Johnson County, and the other areas. I
still visit Indiana once or twice a year to see friends and family.
73,
Paul Munsel N5XMV (Texas Peace Officer)
Hearne, Tx.
