Thanks Joel. Do any of the Baofeng models cover the milair band (225-400 MHz)? The Blue Angels apparently use several frequencies in this range.

Andy, I have a Baofeng I got on Amazon for under $50 that has air band, vhf & uhf. It will monitor 2 channels or scan selected channels more slowly. The scan/ no scan selections have to be made via computer software (Chirp) which is free. You need to buy the programming cable.
Mine has 999 channels.
Only downsides: no P25, DMR or trunking, but for the price what the hey. I can listen to rail, airports and lots of unencrypted single channel stuff

Is the BC125AT a reasonable scanner to listen to the Blue Angels at an airshow? Is it reasonable to program the dozen or so Blue Angels frequencies by hand, or does it pretty much require software? Any other thoughts on a quickly-available and economical scanner to monitor the Blue Angels at an airshow next weekend?
Thanks!
