The ad didn’t say anything about the fee. It’s on their website in the FAQ if you dig deep enough. Misleading at best since they say no subscription fees ever.
Also, they use multiple service providers, but if you’re not in anyone’s coverage area then the radios are not going to work.
It’s too bad that they are misleading, because otherwise the concept behind these radios is interesting.
