You may get several different answers to your question, but my personal favorites are Unitrunker, aka Universal Trunker (http://unitrunker.com/v2/main.html), SDR-Radio (https://www.sdr-radio.com/) and SDR#... stands for SDR Sharp (https://airspy.com/download/). Other than Unitrunker, the other two work much better with wider ranged SDRs, such as the AirSpy, but they will still work with regular RTL-SDRs. I have also started running Trunk-Recorder (https://github.com/robotastic/trunk-recorder/wiki ) , but that requires Linux and works best when you use multiple SDRs. Like you, I bought MANY SDRs back in the "beginning" when they first started getting noticed for radio use, but slacked off when I found them hard to use due to what I thought was a lack of software at the time. I started getting very comfortable with SDR# in 2018, and have expanded by adding the other mentioned apps since.

Subject: [Scan-DC] SDR
A good few years ago I played with a cheap USB SDR dongle. I had some
success, but my interest waned. IIRC I had problems getting the software
to work. Since we have a pandemic and a snowstorm coming I'm looking
for a project.
So the question is what software/hardware are folks using for SDR? Since
I'm a ham I'd like to hear about SD transceivers too.
Is any one running an SDR on the web for public use?
BTW my latest prediction is for 0 to 24 inches of snow, some of which is
a new shovel resistant mutant strain....
