*Heck, if these neighbors had checked with me first, I could have to
told them what the outcome would be and save them $3,000-$5,000 in kegak
fees. Federal law rules, not state or county or city laws or
neighborhood signed petitions.  An "eyesore" is in the eye of the
beholder. These  offended neighbors should count their blessings.  Tower
section lengths typically are 10 ft. each.  Their female ham radio
operator has 20 ft. of addition height she could raise her tower to
approximately about 60 ft., which is a typical tower height.**
**
**  When I lived in Lexington, KY in 1964-1968 while traveling in a
particular area a doctor, who also was a ham operator, had a 100 ft.
sectional guyed tower with pretty much the same antenna configuration
shown in the article's picture.  There always is someone somewhere in
all 50 states who don't like towers of any kind and spend money with a
lawyer trying to force their local government pass a local law requiring
their neighbor ham operator remove his/her tower.  As all these
neighbors eventually found out, it resulted in wasting their monies.
The offended neighbors basically have the same choices as neighbors who
live close to an airport...live with it or relocate to an aesthetic
neighborhood area that is a acceptable .**
