[Scan-DC] Fallacy of Hollywood movies and radio communications

Am watching the movie "Die Hard" (1988). Throughout the movie you see the
John McClain carrying a HT about the size of a FRS radio. In one scene, the
press is stated as saying no other communications between the police and
the terrorists is had other than by means of "CB communicators".

There were no CB's that small in 1988 other than 49 MHz toy walkies. With
some running CB channels perhaps back then but they looked like toys.

In the sequel, "Die Hard 2" John McClain takes a radio off of a terrorist
that is a Kenwood HAM radio that is supposedly "encrypted".... There was no
encryption being used on amateur frequencies in 1990 that I know of.

Can anyone else call to mind movies where comm radios are used that are
realistically portrayed?
