Hi all,
I just (today) acquired a new ICOM R8600, so now I'm looking to sell my R8500 communications receiver. It's in very good to excellent condition. Frequency range: 100 kHz to 2 GHz (unblocked). Only defect is that the backlight on the right half of the LCD frequency readout screen is burnt out, so the right side of the display is darker than the left. Although the radio has 1000 memories and has scan functions, it's really a desktop HF/VHF/UHF communications receiver, not a scanner. Its RF performance is excellent (i.e., it's not a VHF/UHF radio with a compromise HF receiver. The HF reception is excellent as is VHF/UHF). It does not decode any digital signals, at least not natively.
For complete info, see the ICOM R8500 web site:

If you're interested, please contact me off list. I can send pictures if you want. For reference, I see two listings for this radio on eBay at the moment, one for $650, one for $750. This would be pickup only in Arlington VA. Willing to meet half-way for someone in the DC metro area. I guarantee the radio is working fine (other than the right hand display light mentioned above).

Andy
