You remember the series of movies staring Charles Bronson as the vigilante?
Well he goes to the local LAPD precinct and a cop hands him a tunable radio
to listen to a TAC LAPD channel that he uses to zero the bad guys location,
then puts the same radio in his car. Can anyone ascertain what radio was
involved in the movie? For that matter let's get real here. When was the
first movie that had radio scanners being used to either listen to the PD
or scanned by the good guys to beat the bad guys? No CB good buddy stuff
allowed in the answer to the question. Strictly radio scanners in movies
and what type and why?
To that end the movie "Die Hard" comes to mind. Kenwood TH? used by John
McClain to listen to the bad guys on their channel to get a leg up on the
take down. Isn't it about art imitating life? or such? Think that was a 2
meter rig masquerading as a business band or such radio. Comments?
OK, ambulance chasers beware and all that but it's sort of fun seeing the
history Channel using "Project Blue Book" as a vehicle to bring back a
circa 1962 Zenith Transoceanic as a direction finder in a car LOL as Dr. J.
Allen Hynek cruises around trying to track down numbers stations...to a
lingerie shop. Artistic license taken to the extreme perhaps.
