Some inside baseball because I know some folks in Whitehouse IT. I don't
know what he makes calls on but the president has an iPhone for tweeting.
It is a government GFE iPhone similar to what most Whitehouse staff would
use for day to day unclassified business.

When I say iPhone, that is really several iPhones that are roteted in and
out regularly, scanned for any sort of changes, malware, etc, wiped and put
back into service. When I pressed for details on scanned, I was told that
it was a process developed in partnership with the us government and third
parties but couldn't share any additional information.

Apparently, the president doesn't like the rotation, because there is a
little setup that has to be done each time. I would find that annoying
too.

Hard to believe that these phones are so vulnerable still. I remember the
60 Minutes report on Signaling System 7. Is that what this NYT article is
referencing or some other technology?

Calls made from any cellphone — iPhone, Android, an old-school Samsung flip
phone — are vulnerable.
