I use an old 49 mhz. analog baby monitor to extend my reception of
whatever I am listening to on the internet or my scanner or whatever
inside my house. I place the transmitter unit close to the computer or
audio source output speaker. I take the small 9VDC battery powered
portable receiver anywhere in my home or if working outside it has about
a 300 ft. solid reception range which is the rear end of my property. .
The actual reception range probably is a few hundred feet more. I've
been doing this for years. It works great.
