Ah the memories! My wife ran apartment properties in the 1990's. She had a
maintenance man I will call Bubba. He thought he was God's gift to
humanity. He lived across the hall from our apartment. One day at Safeway,
Her co-worker and husband came up to me and stated Bubba was bragging how
he had "tapped" our phone. Needless to say what he had tapped was the
channel or common channel for those old phones and was listening in.
I replaced all our cordless with non cordless and setup my scanners to
search all the cordless freqs for 49 Mhz and soon heard his talk. Most of
which was pretty vile. He also discussed how superior he was to the
management on his job and so on. I could have been a real peach and
recorded his crap and turned it over to the property owners anonymously but
my wife said to leave it be. Later he was out on the Potomac fishing when a
storm front was coming and harbor patrol told him it best to turn to shore.
He told them he had years on the water and to get lost. The storm came and
swamped his boat and he drown. Life is like that sometimes...
