My guess is that Kurt is right about staking out the station.  He could have 
simply followed the two to wherever they were headed for that morning's 
live-shot.

For a 'light', easy to promote story it's not abnormal at all to shoot a 
promo the day before saying "Tomorrow we'll be talking with so and so about 
tourism!"

Second option - he was hanging out near the station and followed them out. 
Easy enough to do.

Given that he had the rental for a month and given that he did give 
indications (no matter how poorly executed) that he wanted to escape, I am 
convinced he made dry runs or actual attempts in the past, culminating in 
yesterday's attack.

building.  As a general rule unless prior publicized by the tv station 
promoting planned upcoming area remotes, this info typically would be "in 
house" info.  Possibly the murderer had kept in touch with someone currently 
working at the TV station who when asked provided the info.  In any event 
the murderer knew in advance possibly from some non-public source.
