Hi Ed,

I don't know if they're still arming the reserves or not. I don't **think**
they ever rescinded the ability, but I do know that at one time it was an
on/off event. Thinking about you're your rant, maybe this is why DC wasn't
touched upon... they (DC) may have given 5 different answers to 3 different
questions :)

Subject: [Scan-DC] Reserve Officers in the DC area

This is off-topic but this old news guy needs to vent to the other newsies
on this list.

WRC-TV's I-Team, trying to localize the story of the Reserve Sheriff's
Deputy who went for his taser and, instead, pulled his gun, didn't
investigate enough. The story in the 5pm cast looked at Montgomery and PG
Counties, which don't use reserves, and at Anne Arundle and Howard which do,
but they're, apparently, unarmed. But NO mention of DC which, last I knew,
not only uses reserves but a Category 1 MPDC Reserve can be armed.

How can a DC television station not include the DC Police in its
"investigation," especially since MPDC reserves can be armed (or, so says
the MPDC web site. Dewey, still true?)

Who's producing this stuff?

Please forgive the rant.

Ed
