[Scan-DC] Record-Breaking Temperatures on Sunday. Impromptu Meetin g?

"Weather not good for Sunday" is putting it mildly. There was a break in the rain about 2:00 p.m., so I went over there. That's no big deal for me; it took 25 minutes on a bicycle. I know that they can't say anything on TV that isn't true, and the weather people said that it hit 72 degrees at National Airport, so it must be true. I wasn't able to tell. It was cold and windy at Long Bridge. As I arrived, northbound Amtrak #92 went by. That was it for the next hour, when southbound #91 came past, followed soon by another southbound train. Other than that, it was all planes. The US Air Philadelphia Eagles plane came in for a landing, but there wasn't much else of note. I saw only one aircraft make a landing on the runway with the approach that passes just about over the Pentagon. It was one of those "looks like an F27" planes - wings over the fuselage, with power by two Rolls-Royce Dart engines, I'm guessing.
People who chose to stay home made the right choice. I went to the Harris Teeter on the way home, so it wasn't a total loss.
Some other time....

Well Blair, it does not look good for this at the moment, maybe another time? BTW are there any tracks/trains that come near Huntley Meadows park in FF county?

Ok so its where they were building the water park a few years ago, I guess I have not been down there since it opened. Yeah I know where it is. 1235 N. Clark is still a good rally point for those whose are not familiar with the area, maybe have those wanting to come pack GMRS/FRS on ch1 so we can round up any strays. Or if just you and me I will be pedestrian mobile on 146.520 simplex and also FRS Ch. 1 UHF.

Pentagon City is closer to the south end of the Long Bridge Park
walkway. Walk east on 12th Street
map view: http://goo.gl/maps/HNFhz
For trains, you're looking _down_ on the [main?] line. For aircraft,
river approach to runway 19 passes 1500 feet to your east, threshhold
3000 feet to your east. If anyone still lands on rwy 15, they can
pass almost overhead, with threshold 1200 to 2100 feet east,
depending on where you're standing on the walkway.
Weather not good for Sunday.
