Crystal City is much closer, and you don't have to cross Route 1. A pedestrian was killed doing just that about a week ago, though it was after dark.

As for the thrill of trainspotting, there's a reason it's regarded by non-practioners as one of the ultimate wastes of time.

Blair I might be interested, as I have never been trainspotting, I can only walk to where you say though, which is closer, Pentagon City or Crystal city metro?
