[Scan-DC] For the SWL

RT is UNENCRYPTED on Galaxy 19 along with about 200 more various ethnic
programing services. Where do you think the PBS Goldvein facility gets
the satellite downlink signal for RT? It's from Galaxy 19 in MPEG2
format and microwave linked to Merrifield for simulcasting via UHF tv
sub-virtual channel 4 on tv channel 30.

As a long time installer/maintainer of Globecast/World TV satellite tv
systems, I received written formal notice recently from Globecast, i.e.,
World TV advising me of their discontinuing all subscription services
currently on Galaxy 19. Although though not specifically mentioned, I
suspect these paid services will relocate to the internet.

In Alexandria, I have no problem getting the lower channels, which are broadcast from the transmitter in Merrifield, using only rabbit ears. I haven't seen the upper channels, which are broadcast from another transmitter.
