[Scan-DC] Wireless Home Phone Service in D.C. area

We live in northern Virginia but also have a little cottage in a coastal
Massachusetts town, where the weather can be miserable in the winter and
power outages can last a long time. Verizon has bombarded us with phone
calls and mailings about the "bad service" with copper lines in our town.
There are no problems. Finally, I talked with an honest supervisor who
explained that Verizon wants to dump copper networks because they are
expensive to maintain. He acknowledged that the battery-backup lines don't
do people much good when the power is out for more than a day. I have kept
our copper phone line.
