I was on a southbound 16X Metrobus crossing the Potomac River at 5:11 this afternoon. I had a window seat and was able to see a V-22 Osprey fly low and slow over the railroad and Metrorail bridges and head toward the Pentagon. He was hovering and/or slowly descending there, on the Rosslyn side of the building, until I lost sight of him. I don't have the "All Area Access" badge that would have let me look into this further, so I don't know if he landed. I'm sorry, but I can't tell you what his tail number, version, and squadron number were.
I had a Bearcat SC180 scanner with me loaded with aviation frequencies, but I didn't pick up on anything. I don't know which frequency would be best for listening. He might still be at the Pentagon. I am at the library now. I believe that some of those V-22s congregate at NAS Patuxent River. I wouldn't be surprised if that's where he is from.
