[Scan-DC] Tropospheric Ducting?

I have a few of those. I was actually working on one, a GE handheld emergency unit, back around Thanksgiving. The antenna attaches to the bottom of the unit. Yeah, what were they thinking? it's quite similar to this:

The poor 11-meter band really got thrown away. It has so much potential. I think of CB as a far more valuable thing to have in an emergency than any cellphone. That and amateur radio. That's preaching to the choir, though, itsn't it?

I actually heard a guy on CB channel 19 (yes, I still occasionally listen
to a CB) Sunday before last saying that he was in Colorado.
