Are there any places within, say, 50 miles of the DC area that will repair a scanner?  I've been unable to get my buddy's Uniden BC796D to communicate with a computer, even after doing a full rest... my own radio, sitting right next to his, with the same settings, is recognized immediately.

Have emailed Gommert Buysen from BuTel and gotten some advice from him, to no avail.  I haven't tried entering anything by the keyboard yet; am also gonna call Scannermaster in Mass when I get to the office in an hour or so.  I'm convinced that this is a problem with this particular radio - thanks.
