Section 7 of the Rebanding article in the RadioReference wiki has a lot 
of information about firmware and software updates (depending on the 
scanner, and how old it is) or downloaded updates (in the case of radios 
like the PSR-800) to support rebanding (not rebranding, as I have seen 
it written in lots of places...). You can click on the link from the CHM
