[Scan-DC] MWAA Trunked System?

Thanks for the tip. I listen occasionally.
The word on this system is that you can hear it if you are near DCA
or IAD. Seems to be low power.
However, they have installed a transmitter at Tysons Corner, on a
small tower that is near the off ramp from the Dulles Access Road to
eastbound Rt. 7. No doubt this is because they must move cruisers
between the two airports and wanted some midway coverage. I happen
to be near that, so I hear these guys fine.
It's ordinarily dull stuff like card readers at the gates that don't
work or found luggage that needs to be sniffed by the pooches, but
occasionally you get some interesting stuff. I had one simulated
hijacking and several real emergency landings with engine out and
that kind of thing. That's because the two airport fire departments
are on the same system.
Because the snow-clearing operations are on this system, too, it's
good monitoring as they try to keep up with major storms.
