Yes, while the PSR-800 has "one-upped" Uniden in decoding the TDMA systems
out there thus far, I feel that it is a step backwards in many other areas
(MY OPINION). In following the PSR-800's release, here are the issues that
I have:
- No keypad.
- No keylock; the scanner can accidentally be turned on/off in a pocket.
- MULTIPLE key presses through the menu are required to manually advance to
a specific channel. If someone says "go to tac", you stand a good chance of
missing the conversation while you go through the key presses required to
manually advance to the tac channel (remember trying to do this on the
Pro-92).
- NOT computer controllable. While the programming is done via computer,
you can not currently "run" (operate) the PSR-800 using a computer.
- Reports of an easily scratched display screen.
- Reports of dust easily entering the unit and settling behind the display
screen.
- There was something about remember the backlight or alert light setting,
but I don't remember exactly what it was that was reported.
Not knocking the PSR-800, I don't have one, but would love to be back on top
of PG County. I am just of the opinion that the aforementioned issues
should be well behind the more advanced scanners.

Thanks Mike! It looks like the PSR-800 will indeed do TDMA. (FWIW, regular
P-25 and conventional trunked systems could be considered types of Frequency
Division Multiple Access - FDMA).
The link for the scanner is here:

8&oldid=76872
It doesn't have numbers on the keypad! It's $500 and looks compact.
Allegedly the GRE version has some features not available on the its Radio
Shack version, such as record/playback.
May you listen well and often,
Rick

Instead of me trying to summarize - and maybe mis-quote - something, read
this thread on RadioReference...
