What is the number here. In St. Louis it was 314-321-2522. Not sure if that one is still there.

Wayll, I happened to call the Verizon weather line this morning, and the forecast was preceded by a message stating that effective June 1 they will be discontinuing their time and weather services.  So ends an era - "the phone company" has been doing that as long as I can remember, and that's... well, at least fifty years.

I wonder why...

For some reason I thought the list might be interested in this, I guess because it's communications-related, although not radio...

Sad, in a way... all of the businesses around here that many of us grew up with (in this case C&P Telephone), and that I always thought of almost as friends have either disappeared or have turned into faceless giant evil empires.  :(

I'd be happy to reminisce either privately, or on the list, if it won't P people off... would also be interested in a discussion of whether the breakup of the Bell System was a good thing or not...

This is meteorologist Alex Bell, signing off.  Farewell to The Time Lady, thank you for calling, welcome to Verizon, bend over, and have a great life.  :(
