[Scan-DC] TG 16688 = ICC?

Doug:

I just heard a traffic stop with the location given as "3.6 West." The only
road this would apply to in Montgomery County would be the ICC. The
talkgroup, however, is 32688...not 16688. The dispatcher was referred to as
"Communications" and I'm sure that the unit was "I-6."

I drove the ICC, both ways, around 2:00pm today and I had quite a bit of
company on the road. I only saw one police vehicle, however; one of the MD
Transportation cruisers was sitting westbound, on the right shoulder just
before Exit 3 (Shady Grove Road). He didn't appear to be doing enforcement,
just looking out for any lost souls.

This is a relatively straight, limited access road with a 55mph speed limit.
I think many drivers, (including me), will feel that the limit should be 65,
and so there will likely be many opportunities to hear these traffic stops.

Ed

Those of you in or near Montgomery County with 800 MHz digital trunking
receivers, please (program and) take a listen to talkgroup 16688 on the
Montgomery County system and see what you think - I heard a lot of activity
earlier, and I suspect this may be the (until now!) elusive ICC talkgroup.
It is currently labeled as Rockville Local Government 1... As soon as the
bosses leave here for the day, I'll settle in for the evening shift and will
be monitoring it, but I think I heard callsigns such as "I-6", "I-7", and
"Motor I-9", a unit making a traffic stop ("Welcome to the ICC, here are
your Green Stamps!" No, I didn't hear _that_!), and some talk about "zones".

I've just fired up the PRO-106, not sure how well it will come in here in
the "Blockhouse", esp since I'm limited to the rubber duckie...

If you haven't been on it yet, you can take the "virtual tour" by camera:

VRRRRRRROOOOOOOMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!
