[Scan-DC] Alert Tone

You could build a circuit that mutes the audio until the tone is detected for some period of time then unmutes to allow you to hear the dispatcher This would be similar to a tone-voice pager. You could then have it reset automatically or manually. This of course would only work if you only monitored the dispatch freguency/TG.
Or you could build the inverse which would dectect the tone then mute the audio for the duration of the tone. This approach may cause drop out of the voice audio unless the circuit were designed with the ability to not act for some short period of time, say 100 milliseconds.
There may be other approaches but this what immediately came to mind.

Subject: [Scan-DC] Alert Tone
I have been listening to that damn Montgomery Fire dispatch alert tone
now for over 40 years and I just can't take it anymore. On my PSR600
it seems to be almost 3db louder than the dispatcher's voices. I know
this may be a stupid question but here goes: Is there some way to
lower or eliminate it on my end? Turning down the radio's volume does
not work as I have to turn it down too low for my ears to hear the
dispatchers. Sorry but I just had to ask.
