My bad, yeah, that post read "there gonna run the same radios as there tunnel command frequencies. but
i still have a few buddies there and can ask one of the guys from the
radio shop there radios are serviced and installed in house" and it was from mdtow1 who lives in SC but apparently used to live here. Here's a link to that thread:
http://forums.radioreference.com/maryland-radio-discussion-forum/196751-mdta-police-icc-detachment.html
I posted something somewhere about there being two units with similar names... there is the MD Transportation Authority, http://www.mdta.maryland.gov/index.html, they are the ones involved with the ICC and they police toll facilities (among other duties). They have their own police force, http://www.mdta.maryland.gov/Police/policeMain.html
There is also a Maryland _Transit Administration_, http://mta.maryland.gov/ From radioreference's page, "MTA is the transit agency for the Baltimore area,
including Anne Arundel County, Howard County, Baltimore County, and
Baltimore City." They are connected with the Baltimore light rail and subway, ie Baltimore transit operations. They have a separate police force http://mta.maryland.gov/about/mtapoliceforce/; that is, separate and distinct from the Transportation Authority Police.
The Transit Admin seems to use the acronym MTA, the Transporation Authority seems to use MdTA.
Mud? :)
Both of those operations are under the Department of Transportation (as is the State Highway Admin.)
Typical Maryland... seems pretty confusing to me - if I were The Governator, I'd put all of this policing crap under MSP, maybe as separate detachments, but maybe not...
