[Scan-DC] [OT]: SD memory cards at RS

I don't believe the Home Patrol supports high-capacity cards, so you'd
want to buy one that's 2 GB or smaller. Any cards over 2 GB are the
relatively newer format, which is what the HP doesn't support. Also, the
HP uses microSD, not the physically larger SD cards.
The HP comes with a 2 GB card, and it's able to hold quite a lot of
recorded audio. What's especially cool is that if you hook your HP up to
your PC, or if you insert your HP's memory card into a card reader, you
can cruise to the directory where the audio files are stored, and listen
to them. They're in standard mp3 format. You could even copy them over
to your iPod for listening on the go. As a comparison, I have an ICOM
R-20, which can record audio in its internal memory, but it's stored in
a dang proprietary format that can ONLY be played back with the radio.
Grrrr.
By the way, I was at the Shack last night and bought a wireless
keyboard/mouse for $20. The receipt came with an offer that if you took
a brief online survey, you would get a coupon good for $10 off your next
purchase of $40 or more. So if you are going to buy some things at the
Shack, what I would recommend is to buy a couple of cheap items first,
take the survey, then use the coupon towards your purchase of the larger
items.
Happy holidays,
Andy
