She was wearing her seatbelt. The next morning I could see the tire tracks on the road and through the grass up to the tree.
I think the nosie was from skidding. It did not look like he ever touched the brakes.

The wreck in front of Merlin's house was the night before the snow - he probably meant tires skidding. Good point about the ABS... and I think somebody else mentioned that an air bag deployment can blow out a windshield... but yeah, from what I've seen it's a pretty big area as opposed to appearing as if an object struck it.----------------------------------------> From: b_thom at juno.com> Date: Fri, 17 Dec 2010 13:39:44 +0000> To: Scan-DC at mailman.qth.net> Subject: Re: [Scan-DC] Crash last night>> Hmmm, odd. I think the screeching must have come from the tires skidding on pavement, rather than from the brakes per se. Screeching tires, in a head-on collision, have just about gone the way of those ribbons of cassette tape that I used to see by the side of the road.>> This must have been an older model car, as anti-lock brakes don't allow for much skidding in a head-on collision. Had the car been in a sideways skid, the screeching is still possible, but would not a snowy road have suppressed that sound?>> Enquiring minds.... ______________________________________________________________Scan-DC mailing listHome: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/scan-dcHelp: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htmPost: mailto:Scan-DC at mailman.qth.netThis list hosted by: http://www.qsl.netPlease help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
