You are exactly right, and I can remember a very active season back in the
late 80's where the ducting was so bad that NY was actually drowning out
DC.  Personally, I have found the ducting to be most prevalent in the fall
when you have the very cool nights, but still warm days... similar to the
weather conditions now.
