Interesting remark from your DOS contact:
"State Dept. said technically international treaty
prohibits radios for local use."
How, then, does DOS justify the VHF and UHF
radio nets at the US embassy locations overseas?
If international treaty prohibits radios for this use
by foreign embassies, then one would logically think
the same would apply for US embassy locations
overseas.
Many US Embassy locations have several local
nets in use, and considering repeater use, that
doubles the number of frequencies required.
